Sometimes, people are forced into relationships that create situations which may not be entirely suitable for their safety; from living in a particularly precarious area of the neighborhood, to living in a particularly dangerous household. Dealing with this everyday is a very unsettling thing to think about, but it is a sad reality for many people.
The COVID pandemic has worsened this reality, as many are encouraged to stay at home. This means that the people who are experiencing domestic violence are locked in the immediate vicinity of their abusers, with nary an option for help. Fortunately, some people are able to escape this reality, or get access to a therapist in California. But one key thing to factor in is the trauma that the violence leaves with the victim. This extends to even the victim’s family.
Often, when families are in need of help in dealing with this trauma, we recommend seeking professional help, like going to a session with a psychotherapist. They know better about the inner workings of our minds and almost exactly how to approach dealing with trauma. We are concerned about the entire family even those who may find themselves in a role of an abuser. Our goal is to create healthy families and when possible heal those who experience challenges to deal with conflict in a more functional and safe environment.
